my boyfriend is thinking of selling his subaru legacy gt but the steering rack boots are bad.
it would take him $300 to fix them
i told him if he fixed them it would bring that price up on what he would get for it.

my question is would fixing the steering rack boots be worth it?
or would he wind up paying more to fix them then getting more for the car after their fixed?

l buy and sell cars. Some people point out the problems and how much it may cost them and expect you to come down off the price.

The less wrong the more value.

Tell your boyfriend to try to find a wholesale parts dealer. They're more affordable.

I'd say it depends on the overall condition of the car. If the car is in great shape other than this one problem, then yeah, get it fixed. It is always easier to sell a car with ''no problems''. On the other hand, if this is just the most serious problem in a long list, or if the car just looks beat up, u likely wo not get ur money back out of the fix.

You can not really just make the blanket statement that it is worth it to fix the problem, the overall car must be considered.
