Just did this a couple of months ago.

Make sure the adjuster is not seized. Get it greased up & move the ratcheting piece all the way around until it re-engages the teeth again. This should be the adjusters smallest position. You have to kind of stare at the piece to see how it works at first. But the ratcheting gear part only moves one direction, it should be on the first teeth it can engage when installing.

Try an online search for HTKYSA to find diagrams.
