im wondering if this is a good buy im looking at a 2004 wrx sti and l found one foe 17,000 its at carmax it has high millage , its not modded at all completley stock, how much longer do you think it would last if taken care of

l think that if you have the money it will be a great choice. the sti has a 300hp engine which goes from 0-60 in 4.8 or 4.6 seconds. if l had the money l will buy it with my eyes closed

My 1993 Subaru legacy has 270,000+ miles and is still going.Subaru is are a good car all around.

They will run practically forever if you're kind to them. I'd have a 98000 mile ST l thoroughly checked by an independent mechanic before buying it though (preferably a Subaru tech) simply because STIs are not the kind of car most people buy to drive to church and back. If the mechanic gives it the green light, I'd say buy it. Sub-$20000 STIs are like quicksilver.

ST l got higher boost. The turbo repair/replace will cost you. (US$1500-4000)
Those 270k miles, old Subaru that are still running around are NOT high pressure turbo cars.

That is suspiciously low even for the mileage but it could just be a good deal. Car fax is useless so if possible, l would have it checked out by a pro for signs of major repair & other problems. If properly maintained, the mileage is not that bad. Timing belt needs to be changed at 105,000 miles & that is another $500 to have done so maybe use that for a little more bargaining. Also, just because it is stock now, does not mean it always was. Chances r good that it was modded. Luckily 04 is were much more forgiving to mods than the new models so it should still be okay.
