l am just wondering. Is it possible to swap an engine from an 07 WRX STi into a 1994 Impreza L (GC8?). I am guessing the 07 WRX STi is have EJ25's, but l am not sure. And if possible, would you happen to know the final pricing/procedure on it?

Oh and if possible, please no bs like ''do not do it'' or ''not reasonable'' because my money is not the matter =]. Forums have not helped me so far so l hope you guys can!

If it is an actual GC8 & not just a regular Impreza, l suppose it would be technically possible. We just put an '06 WRX engine into an '02 WRX in our shop, so if the swap from the 2.0 to the 2.5 is possible with an '02, l do not see why it would not be possible to do it with an '07 ST l engine. However, this swap took an inordinate amount of time & our service manager referred to it as ''probably the dumbest thing he is ever done'' simply because of the massive headache it became. However, if cost & time r not obstacles, u could probably do it. Just bear in mind that the tranny is not really designed to handle the torque of the more modern engine & u might wind up needing to do some work there as well. l lack the detailed technical expertise to tell u how to go about swapping the engine, but if its possible to swap an EJ205 for an EJ255, l can not see why it could not be done with an EJ20G for a EJ257. All EJ engines r supposed to be largely compatible.
