who has any ideas why my 2008 subaru forrester with 12000 miles suddenly lost power and wouldnt go faster than 25 mphthe check engine light came on there was plenty of gas it just wouldnt tach over 2500

Sounds to me like you have a vacuum leak somewhere - in other words, there is a hose loose under the hood somewhere. With one that new you should be able to take it back to the dealership and have them check it out. It should be relatively easy to track down with the computers now and l bet it is something as simple as a hose that came loose. At least that is what my experience has been with the same problem.

if it is brand new, you would still be under warranty. that means the dealer has to fix it for free. did you think of taking it to the dealer?

it also sounds like that something has happened electrically with the transmission which put the car into whats called ''limp mode'' it lets the car still run to let you get home. l would take it back to the dealership and have them fix it.

Have it scanned, a bad mass air flow or oxygen sensor heater can cause this complaint. Good luck.
