Few drops of water got into the computer - and it is fried. Is there no way around ordering a new computer from the dealership since - ''they have to reset the computer'' - as my shop is telling me? Thanks for any input!

You can get an ECU out of any 02 to 04 non turbo Impreza. That includes 2.5 RS' too. There is no reason to have to buy one from the dealer. As long as it has not been tampered with. Any compatible ECU will just plug in and run fine. l would find a new mechanic if that is the kind of info it gives. Who knows what other moronic stuff they tell people.
