l own a 1997 wrx turbo but becuase im on my p is new laws say that l cant drive a car which has a turbo.
Can anyone see anyway around this?
Could l hide the turbo or disguise it in any way so a cop might mistake it for not having a turbo etc?
or any other ideas.

yes you could remove the turbo but performance loss will make you wish you just ran the risk.



NO!, relocating the turbo wont change the fact that the police will check the model and vin numbers stamped on the cars compliance plate.

Turbos can be installed under the car, but custom modification is in need!!
Also l would do some research because not only should you be grandfathered in but l do not see how a law can be made to ban turbos when they are so popular and are also factory equipment. l guess the local economy is going to shut down because most diesels have turbo. What is p's?

Cops can not outlaw turbos if the cars came with them stock. Since you said 1997 wrx, i'm guessing you're not american since the wrx was released 2001 here, so l apologize if i'm wront. But It does not seem to make sense that cops would outlaw turbos. Since the Wrx is boxer engine is pretty tight in there, with the top mount IC and the components pretty cramped, it would take a pretty car-saavy cop to know you're were driving a boosted car.

What country do you live in? There is not a 97 turbo in North America.

l assume as another answerer pointed out, the police will check the VIN, not under the hood.
