Yes it is, but you have to use it when the car is new. If it is an older car and you've been using regular oil, You should not change to Mobile 1.

It is, so is Quaker State Q Full Synthetic and some others. l have found that switching to synthetic in older or higher mileage cars tends to not be a very good idea, but running it from a new car or low mileage car is a good idea.

Yes, mobil 1 is syn. oil that you can buy in local stores. However, there are other brands that you can purchse for different purpose. Redline syn oil also a good one to use; but you may need to purchase on line.

l used mobil 1 EP 10w30 for my subaru, and it still very good, my intervals to change oil is approximately 5000-6000 instead of 3000.

yes one of the best and you can change over anytime.. not sure about what the other guy is talking about anytime you add something that is better for the car your making a improvement.. and that never hurts

Here is the deal with Mibil1. I've been a member of NASIOC which is the bigest Subau forum in the world since before the WRX was released here in the US in late 01. Of all the synthetic oils out there l have seen more complaints about Mobil1 & that is the reason l will not use it. Now there r many people who use it for long peiods with no problems but l have seen many many people who have proof of bad things happening inside of their engine with it. By proof l mean Used Oil Analasys by a company called Blackstone Labs who will break down a small sample of ur used oil & tell u every thing thats in it & l have seen some bad tests. l would go with either Castrol syntec if u want to use a regular brand or u can not go wrong with Motul or Redline. l use Castrol every 6000 to 7000 miles in my old 02 till it had 110,000 miles & did not burn more than a 1/4 quart between changes which is good for a turbocharged car. And the last sample l analized showed better than average wear so l was happy with it. l am by no means saying the people who support Mobil r wrong. Like l said many people have used it with no problems. l am just saying that in my time of owning WRX's, l have never seen people complain more about any other brand. And the people who tell u u have to use it from when the car is new r dumb. In fact it is better to break the car in with conventional than synthetic. l would not switch to synthetic till over 10,000 miles or more. But once u do u can switch back & forth between the two with no consiquences what so ever so do not worry about that.

Yes.
All oil brands are good.
The more popular brands have more commercials.
The brand dows not matter. They are all the same.

It sells.
Oil is oil, the base oil for conventional (non-synthetic oil) is all the same, the difference between brands is the additives they put in the oil.
Synthetic oil means the stock or base oil is made synthetically. However most synthetic oils use non synthetic additive packages in them, for engine wear & such. so most synthetic oils (including mobile1) r not 100% synthetic.

as far as running longer oil change intervals on synthetic oil, l would not do it. alot of people seem to have no problems with it but l do. Since most additive packages r non synthetic they will wear out just like in conventional oil. the oil itself does not loose is lubricating ability but when the additive package wears out the oil looses many of its added features. For example most oils have cleaning agents these agents also hold dirt in stasis in the oil, when the package runs out the dirt clings to the engine walls & u get sludge.

Any & all oil will at some point sludge if not changed.
The advantage to synthetic oils is that they come with better lubricating ability, a synthetic 5w30 is thinner than a conventional 5w30 like how a High Mileage oil is thicker than a conventional oil of its same number (hence why high mileage oil is not rated as energy conserving & synthetic is rated as such).

Other things u should consider, if ur vehicle has high miles on it, synthetic is not always the best way to go if u haven;t been using it. Synthetic oil being thinner & having better lubricating properties will find leaks better than conventional oils.

Lastly think about u oil filter, if l were considering using a synthetic oil (especially if l was going to extend my oil service intervals) l would upgrade to a better oil filter. If u don;t change ur filter with every service u r risking damages to ur motor since most vehicles/filter will bypass the filter once it is completely clogged or cannot receive more dirt which means u just have a non filtered system running dirty oil back into ur motor.

Good luck with ur research.

depends

mobil 1 5w30 and 10w30 are too thin for a turbo subaru. check out bobistheoilguy.com for more tech info.

those two particular mobil 1 oils thin out too much when they get hot to provide adequate protection

mobil 1 turbo diesel truck 5W40 (sometimes call mobil 1 delvac) is one of the best oils available on the market

yes that s what l used since l bought the car recommended for turbocharged engine.

Yes and No!
Really as long as you change the oil at regular intervals IE: every 3000miles. It is really a mater of opinion which is best for you car. l prefer Valvoline or Havoline.. Others might disagree but that is OK. Regular oil and synthetic are both OK for your car however once you switch to synthetic you CAN NOT switch back.. And remeber to use the weight of oil within accordance of your cars manual or a certified Subaru Rep.
