The Evo is much more fun but require a little more maintence and is a little more thirsty (but in my opinion is miles better than a scooby) on the other hand the subaru is a little more comfortable and frugal. I've driven them both but the Evo 9 not the 8 (same thing anyway)

l would take the STI. More practical. More reliable. More comfortable.
