So, I've had some really bad luck today. First, my car would not start, so when l went to open the hood so that l could get jumpstarted, the hood release broke. It is still attached onto the plastic handle under the steering wheel, but the cable is loose. I am assuming it broke somewhere under the hood. Now, how do l get the hood opened? Also, any tips on replacing or fixing the release cable once l get the hood up? Thanks in advance!

well it sounds like you will need a new hood release to be safe but you should be able to get in their with some needle nose pilers and release it some how but l would call a repair place and see what they say

Gak!! The best thing to do would be to jsut get a new Subaru. No, l am joking really. You're either going to need a pair of LOOOOONG needle nose pliers, or a really long flat blade screw driver with some rags to protect ur grills finish. A flashlight would help too. See, there is two different release pieces. One for the hood release & one for to lift the hood up the rest of the way. The SMALLER one is the one for the release. Once you've got the hood up, u will have to replace the whole hood cable assembly. They can not be repaired, just replaced.
