I've got a 2000 Impreza L and l really wanna increase the performance and horsepower of it but I am really clueless about how to do it. Oh, and I am working with a college budget so cheap upgrades are the best, but l still wanna hear all your suggestions even if they are expensive. Thanks!

start with a cold air intake, then a cat back exhaust. if you have a stick shift then a clutch and flywheel up grade. lighter pulleys, nitrous, you name it its out there. good luck!

I've purchased K&N Filters for my car. The claim is that it adds horsepower & better gas mileage. They cost around $50.00 dollars and do not have to be replaced. You can maybe start with filter upgrades. Any type of increased air flow will add horsepower. You might also consider upgrading you exhaust which starts to get expensive.

First get a new hood. The Impreza L is look pretty lame, get an Impreza OBS hood with the hoodscoop and vents and crap!

For cheap upgrades start with a cold air intake then go for a performance exhaust.

Lucky for you the old Impreza is were very easy to tune and soup up! Trust me l own a '99 Impreza OBS!

You can do all the bolt ons like exhaust from the headers back, lightened crank pulley, & cold air intake but for the cost u might get another 15hp. That will be noticeable but only for a week or so till u get used to it. l would work on the suspension. A good set of shocks & springs, bigger sway bars & end links front & back, & most of all a good summer tire will make a huge difference. You will never have the power of the WRX by leaving the motor N/A but ur car is a few hundred pounds lighter so with a good suspension set up u will be able to keep up with one on a track or through the mountains. Just not in a drag race. You could look to a bolt on turbo kit or even a supercharger but ur motor is not built to handle much boost so u still wo not get a lot for the money. l would just accept it & work on the handling. l would look to rs25.com for good infor on ur car. Thousands of members & they r all either N/A or swapped so that gives u an idea about turbo or supercharger kits. Just not worth the money.

if youre looking for something cheap to give your car a meaner look..start off by tinting your windows, painting sideskirts (if you have them), and changing your rims. l did that to my 04 WRX and it looks awesome!
