l have a problem with my car. The engine managment light keeps coming on. l have heard that the engine managment lightflashes a certain amount of times it means different things. Can anyone help me know what these are pleeease. thank u!

autozone can scan it for free and tell you what it is

It could mean any number of things.some minor, some major. Do not drive too long without finding out, though!

You mean a CEL (Check Engine Light) yeah get autozone to pull the codes it can be anything like an O2 sensor

You need to tell what the year of car it is but if it is 96 or newer then you should be able to get a code from it to tell you exactly what is wrong. Engine light is for emission is related stuff so unless it is flashing and you're misfiring, you should be okay. But there are too many things that can cause it to come on so go to the dealer if you have to to get the code.

if you have any other electronic parts hooked up to it (i.e. subwoofers or amps) they can cause it to light up

My 93 liberty put the ecu light on when ever it was raining. When the car get to running temp it would go out. Subaru techs gave up on me. l worked it out myself. it turned out to be the o2 sensor getting wet. Depends on which model year you have . you have to connect up a near the steering shaft & turn the ignition on and count the phasing of the light. l am not sure on the later models

under the dash, drivers side, r four connectors which will currently be undone. Two r black with a single spade connector in each. two r green, with two spades in each.

With the ignition off, connect the black teminals together (they click together easily).

Turn ignition on.

The engine management light will now flash codes at you.

The codes r read by thier length of flash. IE two short pulses followed by two long pulses would be 22. there will be a short pause between each code.

When u think u have rectified the fault, join the green terminals together to, & drive normally. The management light will then either flash constantly (11111-no codes left) or flash codes still present. Hope this helps (contact me if unsure)
