my 1989 subaru XT6 hesitates. but when l unplug the o2 it doesnt. l tried new O2, complete tune up,changed disty, new coil.

no l wont run the car without the O2. the car is sapose to have it and run with it.

i did codes ect... found some problems fixed them and Still he hesitates.

no more codes are said by the E.C.U.

whats wrong with my xt6 ?
by the way its a 2.7L 5spd Manual.

plz help
their is no Coverter. l knocked it out. thinking it was clogged. if it was missfiring. would the car miss ?
fuel injectos are fine. if they were dirty i'd get a code on the ecu. fuel filter is 1 and half years old. do l need to replace it ?
i'm not going have someone look at it. l dont have that kind of money.

yes l changed the plug wires to. l cannot afford over $100.00 for each injector X that by 6. to have them replaced. l did recieve a code for injectors 3 and 4. l changed off the parts engine l have. cleared code and it never cameback.

so l dunno

Have your catalytic converter checked out, it may be misfiring in the pistons.

Bad fuel filter? Dirty injectors?

Er, ah, well, I, so, well maybe it is something that could be, well ah, let some one look at it.

A misfire can easily clog the catalytic converter. A misfire will also cause the O2 sensor to read lean, & dump more fuel into the engine, causing the misfire to get worse.

When the car attempts to go into closed-loop operation, the false reading on the O2 sensor makes the air-fuel mixture too rich because of the extra oxygen going into the exhaust. A plugged or non-functional injector will trigger a lean O2 sensor condition.

Unplugging the O2 sensor makes the car go into open-loop mode, basically factory defaults with no optimization going on.

Check for vacuum leaks.
Did ur complete tune-up include new plug wires?

If its that old l would go to Autozone or some parts store an rent a Fuel Pressure Gauge, Hook it up to the fuel rail an check the fuel pressure reading an compare it to factory specs, if its fluctuating back an forth. Bad news, u need a new fuel pump my friend. an ive never worked on a XT6 before so l cant tell u if its an easy job, but im sure l can tell u its gonna be hard being that old having to drop the gas tank an all the rotted fuel lines might break or even the straps so its hard to say. If the fuel pressure is low u may have a stuck open fuel pressure regulator or a kink in a fuel line somewhere or a clogged fuel filter or even a very slight possibility being that old the sock on the end of the fuel pump could be restricting flow from all the dirt build up on it over the years. If the fuel pressure is sky high then u have a bad fuel pressure regulator an thats not hard to replace but first check the Vacuum line running to the fuel pressure regulator, if its disconnected/rotted out then connect/replace it with a new vacuum line.
