My Subaru Forester 1999 with factory alarm goes off randomly--especially late at night or in parking lots.How can l fix this or disable it?l do not need the security alarm, but the keyless entry is helpful.

l had the same issue with my 98 Legacy. the alarm would sound randomly..first option is to have the dealer reprogram the keyless entry code.. as it may have 'learned' a new frequency besides the one for the keyless remote.. which means any kind of background RF (radio frequency) could set it off..if ur vehicle has a shock sensor as part of the alarm system, to sense vibration or vehicle movement.. this could also be overly-sensitive.. & need to be adjusted by the dealer.Worst case.. just have the dealer disable the alarm, & leave the KE intact.. it might take a while to do.. but any good dealer should have a tech who is knowledgeable about this.

one check the sensitive of the alarm. If that does not help. Take it in to get check for a short in the system or a faulty sensor.
