the newer ones have available turbos
the newer ones are more lushly appointed.
l like the older one better (style-wise)
l am not big on luxury apointed cars.
(this is all based on liberty meaning legacy which l am 98 percent sure they are)

Yes, Liberty = Legacy in the USA.
The newer Legacy is considered a better car than the older version, from a better interior to better handling and driving dynamics.
l have a 2005 AWD Legacy (Liberty) GT 5-speed Wagon with turbo. l love it.
There is an Australian company called Whiteline that does Subaru suspensions with lots of parts for the latest Liberty.
