Ok guys, bare with me. My BF has a moded STI. Prior owner of a moded WRX. He is gotten me into the craze and l have learned a lot. I am deciding on buying a new car so that l will be able to mod it and not make it rice like. It has come down to the Subaru WRX sedan and an Lexus IS300. Lemme tell you, l like the Subaru because of the ''purr'' of that engine, but l have always loved the Lexus. Can l make the Lexus sound like the Subie, and not make it sound ricey? Or should l just forget it? l am a girl, and l do not want any stupid comments like,''It is ok for a girl.'' l want something that is good enough for a man! Thanks. xo

Go with the Subaru hands down, you will love the AWD as well.There is no way you can reproduce the sound of a boxer engine. The Lexus, although reliable and nice.is just a glorified Toyota.

yeah you can totaly make a lexus sound like what you want. all you will need to do is get custom exaust and maby some new engine parts. lexus makes cars that, off the lot, are ok but if you put some new stuff in them, they can make a mean car. a subaru is not really a bad car, but it wont last for a very long time like a lexus. It would make a car fit for a man

I've owned Subarus my whole life. l started with a 92 Liberty which moved onto a 01 Liberty & now an 05 WRX Hatch.
Nothing beats the drive & handling of a Subaru.
The Lexus is a nice car, dont get me wrong. But if ur after something u can do up & 'mod' u cant go wrong with a Rex. All u have to do is throw an exhaust on, lower with a nice set of rims. And, of course if u wana go that extra distance, a front mount. And no, nothing can & ever will come close to the sexy sound of a Boxer. They r very unique. U always know when ones coming. Subie FTW, l have 06 sti.. LOVE IT.. there is no competition with IS300.. performance and handling wise

wrx or even sti l own a wrx wagon 04 if u go lexus get the is300F thats like performance out of the box. but the ratio of perfromance cost to vechicle cost to power to parts cost ratio WRX wins u can put in 1000 exhaust into a wrx and get instant 30+hp unlike the lex. if u want performace get rex if u like the new craze bout luxury performance a lex. but be ready for the $$$$$$$$$$$ its going to cost u

l was stuck between a wrx & an is250, so l feel ur pain! They r both great, reliable cars. l test drove both, & think the wrx is a much better ride. You can mod the lexus as easily as the subie, but it may cost u a little more or take a little more research to find someone (assuming not the dealership) who has experience modding a lexus. The reason l went with the wrx was it is a better car ''as-is'' & also does not have any ugly wood on the interior (why lexus.why?!). Anyway, both r great cars, so drive both & see what u like. They r both ''good enough for a guy'' cars :) Have fun!!

Look, l think a Lexus would suit you best. It has more HP and luxury than a Subaru. Now if you want to get the ''boxer rumble'' like sound on a Lexus, you will have to get a magnaflow exhaust. It wo not be exact, but you will have more advantages over the WRX. A Lexus is more worth the money than a Subaru, suspention and smoothness wise.

For 2006, the WRX undergoes a whole host of tweaks & revisions, including a visit to the plastic surgeon to tack on Subaru is new corporate nose, first seen on the B9 Tribeca. The result is somewhat subtler here & not unattractive in fairness with its subaru parts. Other exterior changes include new side spoilers as well as a redesigned hood & newly standard seventeen-inch wheels.


While Lexus IS300:
The sole edition is stocked with extensive standard equipment including four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, traction control devices, & the power-oriented paraphernalia of a luxury car. Add in its rear-wheel-drive orientation & the Lexus IS 300 offers a compelling alternative to the benchmark BMW 3 Series sedans.

if u want performance go with the wrx. The is300 is beautiful (i own one) but is a lil slow and heavy, But its really nice to look at compared to the subaru

l like subaru is for the sound and performance but l can not stand working on them the only thing easy to change is the cambelt but l like the toyota altezza with the vvti beams engine and l think it has more class and looks way better

The WRX out of the box, with no modifications will out run, & out corner a Lexus by a wide margin.., the AWD adds 4 season capability, & the upgrade potential is almost limitless for the WRX..( tires, brakes, exhaust, engine).. The sound of the Subaru is due to the boxer engine design, & no other car will ever have that rumble, no matter how much u modify it. There r plenty of women out there that drive/ mod their own WRX is / STi's..your bf has the right idea.. a very fun car all around..Check out nasioc.com.. a wealth of tech info to be had.. as well as camaraderie, & usual car related nonsense..a very useful forum to be sure..

Buy a F150 ford lightning (and blow his doors off)..much more HP then stock ST l and WRX..even modded it is less expensive to achieve incrediable rwhp + torque .No replacement for displacement
