My dashboard lights have gone out in my 95 subaru legacy. l looked in the manual and there doesnt seem to be a fuse that corresponds to it...meaning it isnt a blown fuse...what else can it be? i'm really stumped and would really rather not go to a dealership. please help!

Your mechanic can most likely fix the dashboard lights. They seem more trusting anyways. But it may be in your best interest to go to the dealership because they may be able to give you a discount..do not forget to tell them you're a AAA member, if you are! You can save 10%!

Regards.

If all the lights are out, have you checked the rheostat (interior light dimming switch)? Maybe you just accidentally turned them all off.

As far as a fuse, there should be one. Check the inside of the fusebox cover for a legend of fuses. Check all fuseboxes until you find it. Most cars have two.

Sometimes l have unknowingly turned them down or off just in the process of turning on and off the headlights. Check the switch rod and see if there is a rheostat for the panel lights. That is most likely where they have been turned down or off.

l have a 05 Forester so your Legacy may have the same arrangement in a different location.

Two things to check first using the owners manual if u have one. Check the rheostat switch(the switch that controls the dome lights & the light brightness on the instrument panel too) & make sure its turned on. If that is not it check the fuses. They're under the drivers side of the dash. There IS one for the lights inside the car AND one for the dash too. If that is not it, then you've got burned out bulbs in the dash. If you've got a Haynes manual & r mechanically inclined, then u can do it yourself easily. l know, I've done it myself to several cars several times. If you're not mechanically inclined, then either a friend who is or a trip to the auto shop would be in order. And it will cost about $150-200 to get done too. That is for parts & labor by the way.
