anywhere below where the red is on your tac.. take it to 5 or 6 if you want..dont expect good gas mileage and engine life

Shift near the torque peak for good performance and mileage; between 4,000 and 4,500 rpms.

l have an 07 WRX, & l try to keep my shifts at 3-3,700 rpm or less.. You can run the car all the way to the redline all day long, & it will take it, but it is hard on the engine over a long period of time.. the lower the RPMs, the better mileage u will get.. but make sure not to 'lug' the engine.. like driving around town in 4th or 5th, with the rpms below 2K; this puts a huge load on the clutch & the engine is lower end.. better to down shift & run them up for a while, rather than harm ur engine in the long run.

get your car on a dyno. They will be able to tell you where your peak power is eg: 5,500rpm or 6,000 etc. The cost is usually minimal and can give you a great advantage knowing when to shift as you can tell when you're not going to get any benifit by going longer.

as long as you dont go into the red or too low in a gear anywhere in between is fine. the higher up the more power you create and more fuel you burn. and its the opposit in the low rpms

I've been told to shift at 3500 rpms, thats where l shift and it seems to be a comfortable rpm for my engine and clutch. also be sure not to ''ride'' the clutch if you didnt already know
