l changed the transmission fluid and the filter and now my car will not engage in gear,if it does it is just barely,It revs high and just wo not catch.this is an automatic transmission.could there be too much or too little fluid? please help

sounds like too little fluid or the wrong fluid.

Well yes it could be that the transmission fluid is too low or even too high or that the transmission filter kit or fluid you used was not exactly factory recommended.

could be the wrong fluid, how many miles is on it? How about taking it to the shop for a tranny flush?

DON'T TRY TO DRIVE YOUR CAR, you put the trans fluid into the front differential/axle. The trans dipstick/fill tube is on the other side (driver is side). Same yellow handle, they look almost identical. Do not forget to drain the front diff and re-fill with gear lube per your manual. l would change both fluids again soon, to get any remaining trans fluid out of the diff, and residue from smoking your trans w/o fluid.

this is common-the tranny was on its way out -when u changed the fluid-it had fresh dtergent in it and it was nice and fresh and washed all the loose frictin mat off the clutches in tranny- have it taken to tranny shop and have it rebuilt-you should change your tranny fluid every 30 thousand miles
