Hey everyone, l just buaght a used 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX with 35,000 miles. l was wondering what if anyone could help me with what l have to do to install a blow valve, as l believe it requires an intake. Any suggestions for a Blow Valve and other requirements?

Well you do need an intake. And a turbo which comes stock on a WRX and i'm not sure how to install it but once you buy one l know that they are not hard to install. =)

u need to uninstall these:

2 bolts - mounts bov to intercooler
1 hose clamp- vaccum hose
1 hose clamp - hose to intake

you will need a wrench-socket set, pair of pliers & maybe a screwdriver.

you should install a new gasket (bov to i/c), which u could find at the dealership for like $12, part no is: 21896AA072

BTW it does not require an intake, u could use the stock one.

Finally, l do not recommend doing this modification cause ur car will lose power, give u rough idle, hurt gas mileage & run rich between shifts. Check out the subaru forums in my sources for more info.

l have heard these blow off myths of making ur car run like crap, l have a 04 sti. when l bought it it had a bov & a turbo back exhaust. my subaru mechanic & l agree it was performing at its best. maybe it was the exhaust, maybe not. since then l have put a intake on it & we still say its running great. l have also put a stage two clutch, aluminum flywheel, & a crank pulley. no problems here. subarus r great cars, they r also aware of tuners who want to do things to their cars. they build them for these purposes & racing. go get a bov.

Do not waste your money on a blow off valve just for the sound. Get an uppipe instead. Instead of buying an intake, check to see if there is an intake silencer in the front fender between the airbox and front inlet tube. Remove this and add a Perrin or K & N panel filter. This will give you more turbo spool noise and is much cheaper than an intake.

If u get one that recirculates the vented air back into the intake, it should run fine. Install is also very simple with the trickiest part being connecting the recirculating hose. The guy above that says his car runs fine is because he has an 04 STI. They have the same ECU is used in the 02-03 WRX's. The 04 & up WRX is & the 05 & up ST l is have a different type of ECU & they r not as forgiving to bolt on mods without tuning. So l would not mount a BOV that vents to atmosphere on ur car. The thing that people do not know is that all WRX is & ST l is have a really efficient cold air intake & a good BOV from the factory that does not need to be changed till u r pushing over 350WHP so l would use the money elsewhere. A good BOV costs a couple hundred dollars & for that money, u could get a good set of springs or a short shifter & a rear sway bar. l guaranty they will make a much bigger difference in the way the car drives & feels in a positive way than a BOV. If u want a little more sound when u shift, try removing the intake scilencer in the fender. It is a little tricky to get to & looks like a big milk jug. It will increase the sound of the BOV & not effect anything negatively.
