l heard taht the way subaru designed the cluthc that when you replace the clutch u have to replace all these other parts, really expensive and hassel. whats the repair recrd fro sti good or bad

If you know what your doing then no it is not hard. It will be time consuming though. Subarus will run forever as long as they are not abused/neglected.

It is no harder than any other car. Drop the exhaust (you should replace exhaust gaskets while you have it off), drop the tranny, do your thing! Really it is pretty much the same as any other modern car. You can pay a lot for an upgraded clutch, but if you go with stock the cost is similar to other cars too.

Subaru in general has a very very good record of reliability. Look at consumer reports for proof.

its not hard if you have the tools to do it right. the intercooler has to come out, starter, front axels, driveshaft all before the tranny can be moved. l just done mine. if the clutch is bad than have your flywheel checked too. l replaced mine with a fidanza aluminum flywheel and a clutchmasters stage 1 clutch. l also changed the tranny and rear end fluids with royal purple. it cost a pretty penny for every thing but worth every cent! check out ultrarev.com for prices.
