Im thinking of buying a used 2001 Subaru outback. It has no damage, and has 90,000 miles on it.(Two old people owned it and they drove it to kentuky and other places.) It is $10,000. Is that too much for a 2001 with that many miles? Does anyone have any comments or suggestions of to get this car or not?

l say it is too much.
Today you can but a brand new Outback for $20,000.
Kelly Blue Book says a 2001 Outback with an Auto transmission sells for about $7200.
That would be the maximum l would pay.

That is not too many miles for a Subaru, but you will need to put some work into it soon. The timing belt needs to be changed at about 100k and that is about a $500 job.

Go to kbb.com - look up the value of the car, take it to them and show them what it is worth, then offer $7,500 to $8,000.

A couple of things to consider. First, a dealer will always tell u the previous owners were old people. Might be true, might be a lie. l have a rule about car sales men. If their lips r moving, it is probably a lie. Another thing is the condition of the car depends solely on how it was maintained & old people r not the best when it comes to proper maintenance. 90,000 miles is really not a lot for these cars if they were maintained properly so make sure they have all proof of scheduled up keep & 90,000 is really close to timing belt time so if it has not been done, either have that included or lower the price because that costs close to $600 to have done. It is a great car that is reliable & with a great AWD system. Just make sure u see proof of how it was taken care of.
As for the price, it is hard to say. That is way too much where l live but the price is different depending on where u live so even KBB is not that reliable. The only way to know is to check classifieds & forums to compare what they r selling for in ur area to see if it is fair.

That is pretty high. Kelly blue book says a 2001 outback basic no leather seats or options and is automatic with 90000 mile in good condition should be around 8,000 if being sold by a privet seller.
