ok... im curious as to what car to get. l love the look of each car and am looking to get a fast car that fits my needs. l want a quick car that has enough cargo room to put sports equipment, etc in. So, what l am asking is whichwill l miss more: by getting the wagon in speed or the cargo and comfort in an sti... also price and looks (opinions)

please do not say get an 08 because they are terrible looking

Get the wagon!!
Subaru is the wagon king. If you get the sedan you will regret not getting the wagon when you try to put something in the trunk. (Like lots of sports equipment)
Also the wagon just looks cooler/sportier and l do not think it weighs much more than the sedan.


P.S. l am on my second Subaru wagon, and l wish you liked the '08 models.

The STi does not have a trunk pass through so anything longer than a golf bag is going on the roof. l have a wrx sedan (which does have a small trunk pass through) but l wish l had the wagon every time l go skiing or biking. You can fold the seats down in the wagon & sleep back there. So as far as utility, the wagon is 10x more usefull than the STi. The STi is a more dedicated & expensive machine. If ur plans r to go fast (ie: track, dragstrip, autocross, rallycross) then there r few machines that r better suited to the demands & abuse of racing. But if u r not going to race the car, & drive it day to day, then the wagon is the better choice: cheaper to buy & cheaper to maintain; (brakes, tires, better fuel economy).

While l can not make the decision for you, l know two people that have traded in their STIs for wagons on the old model. Both pretty much said the same thing; ''The ST l is fast but it is a better track car than street car. Besides, l like the extra room in the wagon.'' Hope that helps.

well only you can truly answer that for yourself l would miss the speed and power most. l would look at a used Audi S4 avant.

get the STi to me wagons arent my thing but if u get an STi n drop a 3 inch exhaust in it it will sound like a beast n plus u can dift with an STi i'm not to sure if u can with a wagon it'd prob tip over

l saw a really sick 07 wagon with an ST l swap.. do that!!

l will say you are correct in avoiding the hideous '08 models.

Personally, l would go with the STI. Not knowing what type of equipment you might haul, and assuming the ST l is similar to my WRX, l have room to pack what l need, from soccer to skis (okay, they go through the fold down cnter panel in the back seat, but still) from tennis equipment to golf clubs..I've not had a problem.

if you make driving your fun in life you will not need to carry anything in the car, so
get the STI

if you value moving things around, then you should get a truck.

yes this means that l suggest that you get a new ST l and a used truck to move things with.
2 vehicles is a little more work, but you can actually get the best of everything that way.

Me personally love subarus,

Sti model is the sizzle, fast & grunty, head turners, very impressive, depending on the sport equipment u r taking, well there is also the back seat if they can not fit in the boot.

Sport wagon, l personally think they r poofter looking car, they add age on u 10x. Not much grunt.

Now if u r looking for a subaru with grunt, that makes heads turn wen u drive, luggage space, try looking at a Subaru b4 blitzen 1998 models & up..Man powerful car..Impressive to look at.Inside of car is wickard.

l went for the 2007 wrx sport wagon & love it. however the interior is pretty *fragile*; already scratched the seat tissues by not carefully throwing stuff in the back.

l did prefer test driving the wrx sedan however. it felt more scotched to the road

4 months later, l am already craving for more! If l was to do it again, l would get my hands on the 2007 STI; it simply looks like hell on wheels. . & get a used truck to carry the *gear*.

However one car is less of a hassle & in that case the wrx sport wagon is a good *compromise*. l am not even sure l can find gas with the proper octane rating for the ST l in my area.

l would say get the wagon. It is still pretty fast, & has enough room to store all of ur equipment. l think that u would miss the lack of cargo room in the STi more than the lack of power in the wagon, because if u really, really needed all the power of the STi, u probably would not have even posted this question because u know the answer is that nothing will compare to the STi is power.
One tip that my friend found out the hard way is that, although the wagon handles extremely well, it still is not quite as good as the sedan, & u can not drive it like it is a sedan.
Also, another suggestion that is not suggesting the 08 is this, have u looked at the 2005 & newer Subaru Legacy GT's? The have a full size back seat & a huge trunk, which would be plenty of room for sports stuff. They also have great looks for a sedan (in my opinion). And the motor is the STi is motor (4cylinder turbocharged boxer engine) except it is tuned down slightly, to 250hp, which is still a lot! More than the regular WRX. This car also features many options that u would find in a BMW, Lexus or Mercedes. It is definitely a car worth looking into!
