Okay, here is the situation.l am a Honda lover through and through.When l sit in a Honda l feel like l am right at home.However, here is the catch.l am needing something a little bigger than a Honda Accord (not a Ridgeline or CRV) so that l can pull a tear drop trailer.So today l will be looking at a Subaru Outback that already has a trailer hitch!Is it too good to be true?It gets even better, the owner is a certified Subaru mechanic and l will be looking at the car where he works!

BUT (there is always a but)

Whenever l have bought something other than a Honda something bad happens to me.l bought a Volvo then bam!Someone hit me (first accident ever).Then l bought an Isuzu Trooper and ooops!My first speeding ticket ever - 19 years l have been driving!

Will it be 'third times a charm' like scenario?Is this too good to be true?Am l luckily cursed to be a Honda driver for the rest of my life?

What could possibly go wrong with a Subaru?

Well, the biggest difference between the two will be that the Subaru will have all wheel drive, which (like any other part of a car) could go wrong.
Subaru is tend to be reliable though, and the awd will be useful when towing.

Like any other car, Subarus r not exempt from problems here & there. If u look at any dealer, u will see cars in their shop. However, u can look up Subaru in JD Power is reliability studies & u will see that it ranks pretty high in their studies. You can not go wrong with a Subaru. Full-time symetrical all-wheel-drive, to which the only ones that come close r Audi & Volvo is systems.
I've owned a Subaru Legacy now for a while & let me put it this way. With my past cars I've already have been to the dealer for repairs under warranty for a number of times. Knock on wood, not a single issue with my Subie so far.

l have a 99 honda prelude and a 96 subaru impreza. the subaru has all-wheel drive, both are reliable. my subaru has 170,000 miles and the honda has 103,000. the only thing i've replaced on the subaru was the A/C clutch, now the honda a/c clutch just makes a squeak when l turn it on and it needs new front shock, but it is a performance style car so it gets driven at the track.

Unless you're fated to have bad luck with anything but a Honda, no, it is not too good to be true.

Different reliability surveys sometimes give different results, but in the surveys I've been able to find, Honda, Toyota & Subaru r the three most consistently reliable makes. Subaru has been judged the #1 most reliable brand by at least two reliability surveys (in Germany & in the US) & Subaru is reliability almost always ranks near the top, in company with Honda & Toyota, in a number of surveys taken around the world.

When Subaru loses marks in surveys, it is often because of repair cost. Subarus r expensive to repair when something does go wrong. However, the only big trouble spot that comes to mind with the Outback is head gaskets in the 96-99 models, although even those problems were not particularly widespread. Of course, it is always possible to end up with a problematic car--it is just not very likely with a Subaru.

As for Subaru is AWD system. You wo not believe what it can accomplish until u try it. It is widely regarded as one of the best systems on the market--efficient, durable & effective. It will cut into fuel economy & acceleration by about 10% compared to a similar front-wheel drive vehicle, but that is a small price to pay for its benefits. l would recommend AWD or even rear-wheel drive over FWD for heavy towing.

oh dear - been there done that. went back to honda fast. how about an odyssey? seriously. do not go to sub, you belong to honda. l have an rsx and an odyssey - two great options - one for driving, one for towing, family hauling etc. anyway, goodluck.
