actually a subaru is a fine first car. all wheel drive, decent interior room, and a variety of body styles, along with decent production numbers means you can find one you like at a reasonable price.

depends on what you think expensive is. 32,000 average price 62,000 cost to own for 5 years in TN. Good car but l like the Lancer Evolution better.

Damm Dude ur YounG Lol..
Suburus Are A bit On The Ouch Side of Money..Pretty expensive..
Other than That They Are Not Hard To Drive..
You can gET A Automatic,Or Manual TRANSMISSION FOR A Sti..
If Ur Planning to Race Cas l Suggest you Get a Manual Transmission..Much Funner to Drive..
ST l Come With l Believe 300 Hp Stock An Awd..So Pretty Much Good Acceleration..If Yo Dad or mOm Got the Money Go For it.

GOOD LUCK KID..

l drive & race an 05 WRX STi.

For a performance car, theyre very easy to drive (clutch isnt the softest though). Theyre kinda herky jerky because of the good throttle response & super short gears, & harsh suspension. They may be forgiving & such for a 300hp car, but theyre still something way past what a 16 year old is ready for.

For a 16 year old as a first car? Absolutely not. Im 19, but Ive had quite a bit of track time to hone my skills. For a first timer with no professional training? Absolutely not. Heck, its alot of car for older people without track time.

Relatively speaking, most Subarus r moderately priced--more expensive than a lot of FWD cars but less expensive than most other AWD cars.

As for driving, most Subarus r known for a fine balance of ride/handling/steering which makes them fine driving cars. l started on a 96 Legacy automatic (which l still drive) & few other cars r as pleasant to drive. It was very easy to get used to.

l say ''most Subarus'' because the WRX ST l is expensive & requires driving experience to properly master its 300 horsepower. It accelerates faster than many sports cars costing twice as much & can reach incredible top speeds. It is NOT meant for the inexperienced driver. I've already been driving for years & the ST l is capabilities r still beyond what l would be willing to try.

A base-level Impreza 2.5i or regular WRX would be better as a first car--quieter, smoother-riding & better on gas. The 2.5i already has good acceleration. Even in a car that takes 10 seconds to get from 0-60 mph, u might be surprised at how responsive it is when u actually drive it ( l know l was).

Define expensive.

New Subaru WRX ST l is start around $33,495 and go up with accessories.

And let is not forget the insurance on a new driver - the ST l is NOT a cheap car for a young driver to insure, for a variety of reasons

As for the car itself - hard to drive? No, but then I've been driving for a few years now.

If you want a subaru for your first car.. Get a 2.5i or older 2.5rs.

Not only is the ST l expensive, the insurance for a 16 yr old is insane. I'd estimate your payments around $1000 a month for a loan and insurance costs, plus premium gas.

A good car, but be ready to spend the money because they are not cheap. You must also watch out because that car has some power underneath it is hood.

Depends on what u see as ''expensive''

As a first teen car. it is a no-no. They're expensive & dangerous for young racer boy-wannabes. Buy a cheap **** car for like 1k. Then when u r experienced buy a WRX STI.
You could also buy a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX

By the way the WRX ST l with everything u want on it is like 35,000. Plus the weekly waste of a average of 25.00 on gas since this car uses premium. Also maintenance, Oil changes, buying radiator coolant, glass cleaners, dash interior cleaners/wipes, & etc.
