Would l still be able to drive around like l would normally do? The coolant is not leaking or nothing and my car has not been overheating. l went to a mechanic and he told me that its the water pump and timing belt that needed to be replaced, thats why your check engine light went off. Someone help!

Check engine light has nothing to do with the engine. It has to do with emissions. Check to see if the gas cap is on right. Try using a good fuel injector cleaner next time you fill up. It could also be a faulty o2 sensor nothing to worry about read your owners manual. Changing the timing belt is regular maintenance and should be done every 45-50k miles. Yes they are trying to ripe you off go elsewhere.
