how do i recharge an air conditioner in a 1992 subaru legacy??

If you have to ask, you take it to a qualified service technician, a/c systems are dangerous and can cause serious bodily harm or injury.

Just go to the dealership.

It depends on what type of coolant the car uses. Unless it has been converted you can not charge it. l would suggest taking to a qualified a/c tech and have them check it out. l think it still uses R-12.

You do not need to take it to a garage.

1. Go to ur local auto parts store & pick up a recharge kit compatable with ur model & year vehicle.
2. Pop the hood & find ur A/C compressor & follow the lines until u find ur ''High'' & ''Low'' valves, they will be small, most of the time a light green, caps labled ''L'' & ''H'' mounted on the A/C piping.
3. Read the directions on the recharge kit. It is very simple.

Or if u do not feel safe doing it, take it to a shop & spend around $150.($100/hour standard shop labor + parts)
