l own a 06 sti and l will tell you to get the 07. they came out with a new tranny where in the quarter mile you only need to go through 4 gears where l need to go into 5th.
plus the 07 have the chrome back lights that look a little better. so if you plan to race it l would recommend a 07 for the new gear ratios. plus if you have a ipod they also offer ipod hook ups on the 07 and they dont for the 06

The 05 is actually the best of the bunch. Not only do they look better, but theyre more moddable & such. Cheaper too now.

In the tuning/racing community, the 05 is considered to be the best.

l would purchase an 06/07 EVO MR over an 06/07 STI. slightly faster, drives slightly better, little cheaper, etc etc. Not quite as nice of interior, but the exterior more than makes up for it.

also, look at like 2000-2003 porsche 911s. Theyre in the same price range & better than either car. more durable, faster, more prestigious, better looking, etc etc.

depends on if its more important to save money or if u would rather have the few little updates that the 07 has. if u r going to race it & want the new trany than l would get an 07 but if ur just driving it to work & back & playing on the weekend u can probably get a good discount on a left over 06 model. ( l was just at my Audi dealer the other day And they had a left over 06 A4 marked down over 7 grand to $30K) thats a great savings if u could find a left over 06 ST l somewhere u could probably save a few thousand $.

Other than whats already been said, the 07 is have a different turbo (VF43, previous years have a VF39). The 07 is with the VF43 have shown great dyno numbers with only a reflashed ecu, suggesting that the 07 is may be the best option if you plan on tuning the car and keeping the stock turbo. But If you can get a killer deal on a 06 than go for it.

first im goin to say 06 & 07 r just stupid. the only good years were 04 & 05. but if u must pick one of the 2 for some weird reason get the 07, just cuz of the bigger turbo yea not much bigger but it will benifit u alil more. & another reason is they put in the new tranny to help ur gas millieage by makin 3-5 gear alil longer, but heres everything:
[edit] Rev. D (2004)
In 2004, Subaru of America announced it will sell the WRX STi. Subaru Tecnica International is president said in an interview with Road & Track magazine that he wishes to beat the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution in the US. Thus, each iteration of the US-spec WRX STi was essentially the same as the respective J-spec STi Spec C. All the part numbers match up, including the part-numbers for the glass windows & dampeners. However, instead of the EJ207, the USA receives the first EJ257, a 2.5 liter version of the EJ207. Unlike the EJ207, it features hypereutectic cast pistons as opposed to the forged pistons in the EJ207. The steering rack is the standard STi is 15.2:1 instead of the Spec C is 13:1

[edit] Rev. E (2005)
As with the Japanese-spec C models, US-spec STis received additional rear fender flaring in order to allow an increase in wheel size. The wheel size went from 17'' x 7.5'' to 17'' x 8''. In accordance with the increased wheel width, steering lock-to-lock turns have been reduced. Wheel hub strength was improved. The P.C.D. was changed from 5 x 100 to 5 x 114.3.

[edit] Rev. F (2006)
The US-spec STIs receive the same facelift as the Japanese-spec STIs. Mechanically speaking, the DCCD & the engine mounts have been changed. Like the Japanese-spec STIs engine mounts were changed from metal to liquid-filled plastic mounts to reduce vibrations into the car is cabin. On the largest Impreza forum, North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club, 2006MY owners have had issues with these plastic engine mounts. The manufacturer will replace them, under warranty, if broken, with the 2005MY rubber & metal mounts. Later 2006MY vehicles were equipped from the factory with 2005MY mounts. The center differential is updated with the addition of a mechanical limited slip mechanism to supplement the electromagnetic DCCD. The torque split is changed to 41/59. The 2006MY ST l weighs approximately 3350 lb.

[edit] Rev. G (2007)

2007 US-spec Subaru Impreza WRX STi Limited. Only 800 were produced. In 2007, a number of small changes were made to the US-spec model. Due to Subaru is decision to reduce costs by cutting the amount of aluminum used, the US-spec ST l no longer receives the J-spec Spec C control arms. The control arms r now the aluminum ones used on the Japan-spec revision A & B non-Spec C STis. The high caster angle has been reduced, which in turn reduces the wheelbase from 100'' to 99.4''. The rear sway bar has decreased in size from 20 mm to 19 mm. The gear ratios of second, third & fourth gears have been made longer (higher ratio) in order to improve fuel economy & driveability, which inadvertently reduces 1/4 miles drag racing times due to the ability to trap 114 mph in 4th gear, without the shift to 5th. The EJ257 is cylinder heads have been redesigned to improve cooling, & the sodium-filled exhaust valves have been deleted. The alternator is changed from a 90A rating to 110 amps. The rear LSD is now a Torsen unit, considered an upgrade over the previous model is helical unit. The turbo has also been changed to the VF43, which has a slightly larger wastegate than the VF39. The side cowl braces r stiffer than the 2006MY. The engine mounts r once again the hard rubber mounts used prior to 2006. On the interior, there is an audio jack that replaces the ashtray, a rear center armrest with trunk pass-through & a 120W audio system.[6]

The WRX ST l Limited is introduced. It is similar to the Japan-spec ST l A-line, except the mechanicals of the car r based on the 2007MY US-spec WRX STI.

thanks to wikipedia

but like l said 07, but if l were u id buy an 05 or 04
