i have a subaru impreza 2.0 turbo on a 2000 but the tappets sound noisy is this nomal not owned one before

You will probably find there are hydraulic lifters on your cams and if its a bit noisy and it is the cams an oil change may quieten it down. if this does not work then get it looked at by a specialist.

l am surprised you can hear them over the top of the engine! No its not normal. Give it a good flush and an oil and filter change.

Otherwise its new tappets, or maybe even new camshafts.

hi no its not normal mate, get the cams checked p.s theres 4 cams on your motor

its very hard to locate or pin point tapping noises on the flat 4 engine as every thing is so close together. is the noise there on idle or when u apply throttle .ur easiest way to be more sure is to get a long screwdriver and put it to where u think the noise is coming from and put ur ear to the handle end of it and listen .

I've got a 2001 Impreza Turbo and l can not hear the tappets on mine.

Have you got enough oil in it?
