STI motor in a 97 Legacy

l just bought a 1997 subaru legacy gt. l bought it with a blown engine, and l am going to replace it but my question is will an sti motor fit in the engine bay of hte legacy? and will it all work right and hook up correctly? l know l will have to get a diffrent tranny too but l wanna no if the motor will fit. and if yes with teh sti transmission fit also?

The answer (not just my opinion) is that an STi engine WILL fit. l reccomend using the 2.0 liter EJ20G found in US market WRXs and foreign STis over the EJ25 found in US STis though as it is higher revving and more reliable. It'a a big project, but it is probably been done hundreds of times. I've even seen 80s wagons with WRX engines.
