Which last longer? Which do u recommend?

Mazda 3

l have never driven either one, but l have been in both of them on the road. Personally l would go with the legacy. It looks better, has more standard horsepower, and it has all wheel drive. If money is an issue go with the regular (4 door or 5 door) Mazda 3 because it is about $6000-$7000 cheaper and it has slightly better fuel economy. If you were considering the Mazda Speed 3, then definitely get the Mazda.

Well, to answer ur ?s both r reliable brands, as most Japanese, but you're asking apples & oranges really. :)

Their in seperate classes altogether, & the only thing in mazda is line-up that is the Legacy is rival is the MazdaSpeed 6, AWD, turbo 267 HP (vs. 250 for the ''Leggy''). Both cars r about equal in straight line w/ the nod to the Subie, the handling no's. go to the Mazda barely.

FYI, Subarus incl. the Leggy got crash safety std. 5-star ratings & it is one of the most crisp handling, sure footed cars l have driven in my 25 yrs. behind the wheel.

Okay l am a bit partial. My '05 2.5L AWD Legacy GT ltd. will run 0-60MPH in about 5.6 secs. & the 1/4 mi. in 14.3 secs. all the while taking ur family to Yosemite safely & entertaingly.

In the April Consumer Reports Car Issue, the Mazda3 is rated as about 25% more reliable than average & the Subaru Legacy 2.5i is rated about 32% better than average. l am trying to read values off of a graph, so it is hard to be exact, but the Subaru is clearly rated higher than the Mazda3.

We had a Mazda 626 many years ago - l think it was a 1994 model - & the thing really struggled after 100,000 miles. We finally shot it at 140,000 miles. It really punked out. That was more than ten years ago, so maybe Mazda is a lot better by now. It did not leave me with a very good impression, though. We only had it for five years. l keep most cars for 9 or 10 years.

Subaru Legacy-better engineered, better handling, better safety, better resale value, better reliability.
