l own a subie and would like to know it l can drift in it w/o any rear wheel drive conversions.

Yes ! But its all 4 wheels spinning/sliding sideways - instead of the rear only. Try getting up enough FWD speed then quickly turn and add more gas..all wheels start to slide sideways - losing traction with the road.the gas adds more spin to the tires to prevent them grabbing the road and you will drift sideways in the direction you started.. if you have a hand brake you can really get the rear swinging around on slippery surfaces..its winter here now - so its tons of fun !

Yes it is possible to drift in awl drive subaru, it will take some time for you to learn it. when u drift it in make sure u step in to brakes twice before u shift the gear to 1 lower, step into the pedal at the tip of your right foot following the gas on the tip of your right opposite direction. match the wheel speed to engine speed and release the pedal then it will give you stability and acceleration when exiting the curve.

If u r talking competatively then no (rear wheel drive has a monopoly on that one) but if u mean just for fun, yes its possible. Subys have an unbelievable level of traction, even for awd, so snow is really the only way to do it without mashing the accelerator or pulling the e-brake. Just watch the recatch, awd will pull u back a little quicker than rear, so that backend will come back fast (try not to oversteer or u will end up drifting the other way). The last option is more power. an sti running a few mods can light those tires up pretty much whenever, making drifting a bit simpler.
