l was thinking about buying the SPT Cat-Back and Cold air intake for my WRX. these are the ones released by subaru and l was wondering if anyone has bought these items and if you noticed a huge difference? and how much HP it increased by if so. thanks in advance =]

l have not bought them exactly but l have a custom exhaust & intake on my 96'. You will not notice huge horsepower gains but the torque which u will notice will jump up about 15 ft-lbs. Also u will get better gas mileage with those 2. But getting just a cat-back is kinda pointless. Get a header & new cat from say Catco & get the rest of the exhaust custom made at the local muffler shop. And a good muffler is always a good idea. Contact ur nearest import tuner for info on a good muffler.

The cat back isnt a bad idea the cai is debated highly among the subaru community, I'd leave it off personally. Check nasioc.com and other subaru enthusiasts sites for more in depth info and more choices as to where to get your parts. It will void the warrenty on specific items not the entire car.

Make sure these products are released and approved by Subaru and not just the dealer selling you after market stuff. Just to let you know if you modify your Subaru this way you will void your new car warranty. l have seen this happen several times. l used to be a service adviser for Subaru dealers before my accident.

Dont get just a cat back exhaust if u r looking for performance. It will do next to nothing. Or u wont notice it when u drive. That car has 3 cat converters. One in the up pipe & 2 going down the exhaust. So if u want to get some good sound & better flow then get some headers with an up pipe included & get a Turbo back exhaust. l did this & still was covered under warnante.

The next cool part is with ur cold air intake. When u take out that box intake & put in the pipe through the wheel wall it sounds like a jet engion taking off. Dont get a short air intake cuz once that engion in summer time heats up then u r just sucking in hot air. (Bad for turbo cars)

The next thing u should get is a blow off valve. That is what makes that sound or whistle when u shift gears. Being that its a subaru everything is all super easy to do yourself. l knew nothing about cars then l fell in love with that car & starting learning. Its all very easy to work on & u could do all three things in a weekend.

With doing thoes few things the only thing left is to get u comp reflashed or get a piggy back ecu. (tuned) Then ur car is putting colse to 220-240 hp at the wheel. Being that the 07 have the 2.5L in them now. (unlike my 02 with the 2.0)

Parts that l would suggest u get r brands like APS, Turboxs, Perrin etc. Check ebay for these parts & just type in WRX & u will have a tun of parts to choose from. APS is the most reliable & the list goes down from there.

Good luck & rem its just a hobbie. Dont do like me & get crazy having 450+ hp at the wheels. :)

Ok, first thing Congrats on the WRX. l have an 03 in Sonic Yellow. The SPT cat-back is not too bad but l would recommend a turbo back. Larger down pipe with a cat delete. Yeah, it is kinda illegal if u remove the first cat. Just replace it with a high flow cat.

Before u do any of that though, look at a piggy back EMU. Personally, l use the TurboXS UTEC. Others l know have the Cobb Access Port. Cobb is pretty easy for a beginner, the UTEC is more for those who know what they r doing. By adding this into ur plans, u WILL see a more noticable increase in ur power gains.

Second, FORGET ABOUT A BOV. All u get is the noise. The stock one is good up to about 25psi. After that, yeah get a RECIRCULATING type. You wo not get the noise but it will work better.

Third, a CA l is not too bad of an idea but make sure it has a good filter & it is placement wo not cause water to get sucked in. Water in a turbo system = major headaches & repair costs.

The turbo is the weak point after certain levels. l recommend the VF34 ball bearing turbo. Little expensive but worth it if u really wanna see some power. Depending on what u want to do with it, take a serious look at the suspension. l am at this point right now. I've been considering some of Tein is coilover kits with the EDFC. Also, look at the bushings. Go with urethane & stiffer sway bars.
