l know a guy who has a honda accord and has a bit over 200,000k on his car. and l was wondering if subaru is are the same. im only 16 so l need a cheap car l can afford. the impreza was what l found cheapest through my search.

This is a 12 year old car that is pretty much used up. It is a crap shoot when u buy a car this old. If u take care of it & do not beat on it, it could last u a couple of years, but then it could also die next month.

With any car, foreign or domestic, u r taking ur chances when they get over 150,000 miles on them. I've seen Honda is & other Japanese cars junked at 120,000 miles. Just because u see one with 200,000 miles does not mean they all last that long. My brother has a Buick with 225,000 miles. This does not mean all Buick is last that long either.

Subaru,s are good cars also,this one if it has had good maintenance done to it would last a long time,all of it is going to be based on how well it was taken care of before you got it that is not a bad price on that one either,but have it checked out buy a good mechanic before you buy it,because once you pay for it,your stuck with it,good luck on it.

Do not Listen to Mad Jack he is jelouse. l have a 1990 Subaru Legacy, with 290,485 Miles on it & runs like new. (Always change oil, tune up, brakes, etc.) I've raced it, beat the crap out of it off road, & yeah it still there. Subaru, Honda, Toyota r the 3 BEST reliable car available. That car ur going to buy will last u about 10 or more years before it blows up. Listen to the engine, make sure there is no weird noises or shakes. Drive the car & feel if the suspension is not flat or jumpy. And watch out for strange noises.

l have a 96 impreza coupe (2.2 Liter/Auto) paid $6000 about 6 years ago for it it is got 180,000 (i put more than 110,00 of those myself) miles & with my personal experience it is been awesome, l did treat it badly (off roading & such), but i've only replaced 1 strut, A/C Compressor, & spark plugs. it recently sat for about 6 months & still started up like new. Now, if you're mechanically inclinded then the subaru is good, because it was designed to be able to have engine parts changed quickly & easily, do not even have to jack it up to change oil! but, my insurance on mine when l was 16 was just over $300/month from state farm..first of all it is a coupe, second..parts..heres the fun part.i messed up my front bumper & they had to get new fog lights & they told me the warehouse with them burned down & they finally found only 10 in the entire US.next a door window broke..i had to wait about 2 months while a guy, who said he could find any part, looked for one in junk yard. his words where ''you might of found a part l finally can not find'' but he did & gave it to us free because it took so long.later the other one broke & needed it right away so l paid 400 for subaru to pull one from a warehouse in japan.. THEN, l got into a wreck & broke a factory rim.a factory alloy rim on mine STARTED at $1100/ A RIM from subaru!!! so l bought a full set of Enkei is for $400..

yes subaru is are similar to most JDM (japanese domestic market) cars in the sense that they will run until hight miles. l say the car is a great deal and 161k miles on an 11 year old car is not bad at all, go for the car!!!! lol

Mate - that is less than 15k a year. That is not that much really. Have u got any idea of the type of driving it is done? Did the owner live out of town & have an easy drive in or did it get used in the city all the time.

If it is been looked after, u should get 300k out of it. If it is abused u might get 50k!

But Subaru r very, very reliable cars & the all wheel drive is excellent for a young driver because it will be almost impossible to spin if you're half sensible.

Spend the $100 & get a mechanic to check it out. $1200 would still be a bargain. $100 if its a lemon is also a bargain!

it all comes down to how well its been maintained.regular checks of oil/water etc are crucial to the longevity of any motor.i run a diesel with 198000 on the odometer.
