Hi, my boyfriend and l always go to Subaru meets and well...talk, eat, and drink Subaru practically. the guys and also myself, were curious as to what the large black dot in the middle of the dash was. Please, while you are on this question, do you have any idea what WRX stands for as well? Thanks....PLEASE only SERIOUS ...

it might be the remote sensor for the keyless entry. might wanna ask on nasioc.
l looked around in my shop manual for the car, and honestly, l could not figure it out.

On my two cars BMW and Lexus it is the auto headlight sensor.

l have the same car, but l never noticed the black dot. l will be checking that out. But l am pretty sure that WRX stands for World Rally Xtreme. They are rally cars.

The black dot is the Auto Light Sensor. It is for the headlamp system (daytime running lights).
WRX stands for World Rally Cross.as the WRX is the Rally Inspired Sports Car. Not to be confused with a real rally car as some people find out the hard way.

Maybe it is the auto light sensor, but the 2005 STi does not actually have DRL, despite what the initial sales brochure l have says (except maybe in Canada). At least mine does not (and it was not disabled, l bought it new).
