Does the Gt require premium gas?
Engine Differences?

Thanks

For the 2008 model year, Both have a 2.5 liter, 4-cylinder engine but the GT has turbo-charging and bigger wheels & tires, and an upgraded interior. Both engines recommend 87 octane fuel.

Up until 2004, the Legacy & Legacy GT only had slight differences. There were options available on the GT (like leather seats, etc) but it was not until 2005 that Subaru actually took steps to separate the Legacy GT from the regular Legacy. The 2005 (and later) Legacy GT comes standard with a 2.5l 250hp Turbo-charged engine. It has more power than the base Subaru Impreza WRX. I've had Subarus for a long time. l felt my last Subaru Wagon was the best car I've owned ('97 Legacy Wagon) but it just needed more power & to handle better.

l now have a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT Wagon & my prayers have been answered. Subaru hit a homerun with this car. It is fast, handles great & comes with some really nice extras (like dual auto climate control, heated seats, 6-disc in-dash changer, heated mirrors, windshield wipers & some other nice ammenities). The biggest distinguishing factor is the hood scoop. It funnels air directly onto the Turbo is intercooler. The dual exhaust used to be another distinguishing trait but all new Subaru Legacy is & Outbacks have the non-turbo 2.5l engine & dual exhausts.

The 2005 & later Legacy GT does however require 91 or better octane gas. But, it does get decent gas mileage (especially on the highway) plus it has three transmission modes that make it fun to drive (Normal, Sport & Manual).

It is an awesome car & the after market support is huge for the 2.5 Subaru turbo engines. The 2005 & later Legacy GT is r difficult to find used as not many were made (even less in the Wagon as l found out). But a great find nonetheless.

For 2008, Subaru has decided to drop the Legacy Wagon & the Outback Sedan. So, the Legacy is the sedan version & the Outback is the wagon. The Legacy GT is the turbo-charged sedan & the Outback XT is the turbo-charged Wagon. Both r essentially the same 2.5l turbo engine since 2005 with 250hp.

Legacy GT and has a 243 hp turbocharged engine and wastes more the gas than the Legacy, which has a 170 non-turbocharged engine.

The Legacy GT has a turbocharged engine, when the Legacy does not. The GT is the sport version of the Legacy.
