l have a '97 Subaru Outback with 136,000 miles on it that has a cracked radiator, bad starter, and a blown head gasket. Repairs have been estimated at $2500+. Is it worth it to get it fixed?

l think it is, all those repairs should not cost that much. But if you do not want it how much do you want for it.

NO.only if u r a mechanic.say u put the 2500 plus in it.many other parts r 10 yrs old with that many miles.brakes,syspension,fuel pump..water pump.alternator,,and many other parts,,,for 3000 you can probibly get same car already running well,,,when working on a car there is always an added thing,,,''while your at it [have it apart] you may as well replace/fix'' add 1000 to price

Absolutly not. The car in running condition is only worth 2000.00.

l was in a similar situation with my 98 Outback. It needed new head gaskets. When the heads were removed, the pistons & cylinders were in such bad shape it was recommended that l scrap the car or have the engine rebuilt (which was going to cost around $4000).

The rest of the car was in good shape & l really enjoyed driving it. So, l had the engine rebuilt (at 264,000 miles) & l am still driving it at 336,000 miles.

According to KBB.com, ur vehicle, after the repairs, will be worth around $4500. If u really like the vehicle, I'd get it repaired. But only with a mechanic who knows Subaru is very well & can check out the rest of the car.
