l have been in love with subaru is since highschool (l was a tuba play and needed trunk space), now that l am older and will be graduating college in a couple years, l just wanna know what people think about the Subaru Baja-like mpg, reliability, yearly cost, is it an ''exotic vehicle'' or foreign, quality, crash test, and how is the company doing (will they be around for sometime or go belly up)?

l can not tell u anything from first hand experience. my friend has a baja & a forester. they r comparable when it comes to gas. he loves the baja & they both say that it is far more fun to drive than the forester. go to subaru.com for specs or consumer reports for crash test ratings. it is a foreign car & subarus have a great reputation for being reliable & durable. my impreza is 9 years old with almost 200,000 miles on it & it is still going strong. the company is doing fine, it will be around for a long time.

The baja has the same drivetrain and structure as the forester ( l think), The only difference is it has a bed. If you like the newer subaru's, go for it.

Do you remember the Subaru Brat from way back when? Well just add fuel injection and two doors and there you go. Consumer Reports ( l think) said it was just a little off on reliability compared with the rest of the lineup.

its not the best gas-saving car (partially cuz of the awd). its quite an expensive car to keep up on maintenance compared to other asian cars, but its a real reliable car. go look on auto.consumerguide.com it has reliable info or subaru.com the performance of the vehicle makes up for the price. the company wo not go belly up on u any time soon. all the subaru owners ive had come in the door have been real satisfied with it. l personally like the outback wagon. subarus drive great in general. hope u enjoy ur vehicle if u end up buying it!

The Baja is a capable small pickup that will give long trouble free service if you take care of it. Better get a new one now before they are all gone,no 2007 production.

It is easily one of the ugliest cars l have ever seen in my life it is second only to the Pontiac Aztec. The Baja is half-plastic, half-metal.

If you're interested in a new Baja, you'd better act soon. The last Baja rolled off the production line in Lafayette, IN back in April & dealers will probably receive their last Bajas in July.

If u can afford it & the premium gasoline it likes, the Baja Turbo is a very quick vehicle. The Baja is based on the Legacy/Outback platform & shares the same service manuals. I, personnally, am not too fond of the body cladding, but it does serve a purpose.

Although the Baja has not been tested by the IIHS for crashworthiness, other Subaru have. The 2006 Forester, Impreza & Legacy all received ''GOOD'' ratings in every category - very rare. l expect the Baja to be very safe, as well.

as a baja owner (2003 ) l would give u a favorable opinion, though being a 2003, mine is a bit under powered for its weight

mpg--- avg 23-24 depends on my driving habits. Not great for a care this size but not terrible for an AWD vehicle

realiabilty----excellent

versatality---excellent

maintenance..ive had no problems, oil changes every 4000-6000 miles & one 400 dollar all around tune up, fluid change etc

fun to drive, but takes a little time to adjust to,i suppose that depends on what u drive now.

l think the subara baja is a great vehicle to start out with in college considering that u have trun space good gas mileage for a truck and a fun car to drive
