My catalyttic converter was plugged up and so l drilled a hole in it so that it could drain. It just was really loud after that. So later l went and bought a new one so its not that loud any more. Its just the flows that make it loud. But the cat converter is not all that important. So if you feel you need to drill it, then go ahead. Just replace it when you can.
