on my transmission (automatic) shifter thing l have a button that says manuel, and then 1,2 and 3 on the box where it says drive and reverse and all that, can someone explain these things to me, and what they do, and when they are necessary

read your owners manual.just kidding, when you push the button to manual you need to shift the gears back and forth like a stick shift transmission.when it is on the automatic setting you do not need to shift in between gears.hope this helps.

They are not at all necesssary, they are basically so you can control the point at which your transmission changes gears! You can use if you want to but l would get someone to teach you the proper shift points so you dont blow your motor or break a rod! It can be fun!

Press Manual & then u have to physically shift the car between 1, 2, & 3. If u try to start from a stop with the car in 2 or 3 it will not be so great for performance or the transmission.
So u will have to pull it back into 2, then into 1 as u come to a stop or slow for a turn.

If u have ever driven a stick shift or manual shift car then it is almost the same thing, just no clutch.

Manual setting would be good on slippery surfaces or when racing. Otherwise just put it in D & drive.

Your transmission must have been manufactured in Mexico.

Joy ride is correct. If you wish to drive it in regular auto mode do not bother with the buttons. If you are not sure read the cars owners manual. l have an auto trans in my Subaru and that is what l do keep it in drive or press the manual button and shift 1,2 but usually l just leave it in drive.
