Looking at it, l see the antenna and the pump for the rear window sprayer. Is it all one unit or is there a seperate motor for the antenna? Or is there a way to manually pull the antenna out and leave it out?

spray dwd-40 in it and let it sit over night. if not you have a little motor in there. get someone to extend the antenna and listen for a noise if you hear the noise the motor is still operational.

Does the antenna motor make a noise when the radio is turned?Check to see if the antenna is unplugged from its socket. Look in the location of where the antenna is, on the inside there should be a panel that you can remove. Check the connection. Check your fuses too. The antenna also should be lubed every oil change.

Most power antennas use a nylon cable that runs inside the metal antenna sections that pushes it up or pulls it down. Winds itself up in a spool at the bottom of the unit where the motor is. l have not done a Subaru, but if Subaru is like any other vehicle that l have seen then they will sell u a new antenna mast & cable assembly for around 40 bucks or so. This repair works if the motor is still good. If u hear the motor run when u turn the radio on & the antenna does not go up or down then a broken nylon cable is usually the trouble. If not then gotta look elsewhere. To change the cable u remove the antenna power assembly & the round side cover. That allows u to remove the rest of the old broken cable. After feeding that replace the cover & feed the new cable down the shaft. You should be able to ''click'' it in with the radio on & the unit having run to the position that it would normally be with the radio on & the antenna up. Then have somebody turn the radio off while u guide the nylon line & antenna mast into the hole as the power motor retracts it. Once it is down & stops then u can righten the locknut & reinstall the unit on the car & replace the bigger nut that holds the unit to the fender outside the car. Sounds complicated, but hardest part is getting the power antenna unit out of the vehicle. Rest is pretty straightforward. Most l have done have actually come with the instructions for repairing in the bag with the replacement antenna mast/cable assembly.

Spray with WD 40, Leave for a while to penetrate and then try again.
