The ''Low Fuel'' Indicator does not turn on in my 2000 Subaru Forester. Does anyone know why this would be an issue and how much it might cost to fix this from your experience?
l have had the car for almost 6 years now and it usually lights up when the fuel goes below 12.5 gallons. But now a days, it does not light up until 13.5 gallons (Thats the furthest l have driven without automatically stopping at a gas station :)

Are you sure you got it low enough?

hey dont have ur particular vehicle but have had this problem before, ur vehicle has a ball like object in ur gas tank that tells a computer chip when it is low.most people dont rely on the light to come on but the actual reading guage on ur dash..but ''older'' vehicles r easier to fix than newer ones so not sure of the cost of getting it fixed, but unless u rely on the light in gas useage l would not worry about it.go fill up ur tank, then fill it again, the ''ball'' may work itself loose..hope this helps

Has to be the sensor, assuming the hourly rate at your local garage is $65.00 an hour you can count on at least 3 hrs minimum since the sensor would be at the top of your Gas Tank and the Tank would have to be drained and removed to replace Sensor.

There is two access covers for the fuel tank behind rear seat to access the fuel sending units.Your car has two sending units due to a saddle shape fuel tank.senders are about 200 dollars for the pair, but maybe a ground issue or the wiring.Have seen many a mouse nests on fuel tanks and they like to eat wires.Take it to your local Subaru dealer.Best Bet.
